Anthropology of Consciousness
This page provides information about the Anthropology of Consciousness, the
primary organ of the Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness. A
biannual journal, AOC is a unique publication, bridging theory and
practice, knowledge and wisdom. It provides a scholarly forum for cross-cultural,
experimental, experiential, and theoretical perspectives on the study of
consciousness. AOC publishes full length papers, book reviews, and letters to the
editor. All articles are refereed by the AOC Editorial Advisory Board.

The AOC Editorial Advisory Board is comprised of individuals representing a
diverse range of theoretical and practcal perspectives. Click

AOC publishes papers from anthropologists who are concerned with the
anthropological study of consciousness and welcomes contributions from all fields within
the discipline. The journal also accepts submissions from scholars in other
disciplines, both in the humanities and sciences.

Two indexes are currently available:
The General Index lists all articles, reviews, editorials,
letters to the editor, and obituaries that have appeared in AOC from Vol. 1 (1990)
through Vol. 7 (1996).
The Review Index lists only those reviews of books and videos
which have appeared during the same period.
New indexes encompassing all volumes through Vol. 10 (1999) are currently in
preparation.

A publication of the AAA, Anthropology of Consciousness is available to both
members and nonmembers of SAC. Members receive the AOC as one of the benefits of
membership. Nonmembers can receive the AOC for an annual subscription rate of $38
